Myk Garn is the Director of Educational Technology for the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). The SREB was founded in 1948 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works with leaders and policymakers in 16 member states to improve pre-K through postsecondary education. Myk directs the SREB Educational Technology Cooperative, which provides information and analysis on the potential impact of educational technology to guide schools, colleges, state education agencies, and legislative policy makers as they create and expand effective uses of technology. Prior to joining SREB in May 2008, Dr. Garn was Associate Vice President for eLearning at the Kentucky Council for Postsecondary Education (CPE) where he served as Executive Director of the Kentucky Virtual Campus managing the strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations of the Virtual Campus and leading statewide distance education policy and technology efforts.
Linda Keller is a Senior Project Manager for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Linda's primary role is to manage ISTE's partnership with Hewlett-Packard (HP) and the grant programs that support both organizations' missions. Of the nine years Linda has worked at ISTE, she has worked on these grant-related projects for eight of those years.
Barbara Treacy is the Director of EdTech Leaders Online, a national capacity-building online professional development program for state departments of education, school districts, regional education service providers and teacher training institutions, with participating organizations in over 35 states. Since the inception of EdTech Leaders Online in the fall 2000, Barbara has led teams of curriculum developers, online facilitators, instructional designers and online specialists to provide graduate level training programs in online learning, a catalogue of over 60 online workshops in specific K-12 subject areas and grade levels, and a national forum for online specialists implementing local online programs. Barbara also directs EDC’s collaboration with E-Learning for Educators, an eight state consortium led by Alabama Public Television and funded by the US Department of Education, to establish state-wide online professional development programs. EDC is providing online professional development training through EdTech Leaders Online, consulting on online professional development planning and implementation, and developing of a series of model online professional development workshops to meet high-priority state needs. Barbara supports several other online projects at EDC including co-developing a leadership training program for the State Educational Technology Director’s Association (SETDA).
Joyce Balich is Associate Project Director for EdTech Leaders Online. As part of her responsibilities, Joyce prepares contracts and invoices for participating organizations, coordinates and processes continuing education credit requests from participants, processes permission requests, and provides literature and guidance as needed. Before joining EDC in 1999, Joyce worked as an attorney for 12 years, and has worked in the legal field for over 20 years. She holds a J.D. from Vermont Law School and an A.L.B. from Harvard University.
Alex Dreier is a Technology Specialist for EdTech Leaders® Online where he supports participants and future facilitators in running ETLO workshops. Prior to joining ETLO, Alex worked as a Research Assistant for the America Connects Consortium (ACC), a project housed at EDC that provided technical assistance to grantees of the U.S. Department of Education's Community Technology Centers Program. Before joining ACC, he worked as a teacher and consultant for children and adults with learning disabilities. Alex also volunteered with Literacy Volunteers of America and interned at the Office of the Governor in Michigan.
Erin Earnst is a Course Developer and Online Facilitator for ETLO. Her work with ETLO includes developing and updating online courses and providing support to participants and facilitators of ETLO workshops. Prior to joining EDC, Erin developed and facilitated online and face-to-face professional development workshops for educators focusing on improving student learning through the use of technology across the country for Pearson, Scholastic, and Tom Snyder Productions. She taught 4th grade in Oklahoma City and Newton, Mass. Erin received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Boston College and her Masters in Teaching from the University of Portland (Oregon) through the University of Notre Dame’s ACE AmeriCorps program.
Mike Kadin is a Technology Associate at EdTech Leaders Online. Mike works on a variety of technology projects for ETLO ranging from web design/development to the creation of virtual interactive applets. Before ETLO, Mike was a science, math, and technology teacher at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School in Cambridge, MA. Mike earned his Sc.B. in electrical engineering from Brown University where he also completed the Undergraduate Teacher Education Program for certification. He is currently pursuing a M.A. in Computing in Education from Teachers College at Columbia University.
Leinda Peterman is a Project Director for EDC’s EdTech Leaders’ Online project where she manages development of new curriculum and assists with strategic planning. She has extensive experience as a classroom teacher, school district administrator, and professional development specialist, including twelve years experience in online learning. She was formerly the director of a USED Technology Innovation Challenge Grant for northeast Louisiana school districts.
Carolyn Ronchinsky is a Technology Associate with EDC’s Center for Online Professional Education, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining online courses, websites, databases, and accounting systems for a wide variety of educational projects. In addition to her technical knowledge, Carolyn has 12 years’ experience as a mathematics teacher, teaching all levels of Algebra and Geometry and contributing to professional development and technology integration efforts in her district.
Laura Sampson joined EdTech Leaders Online after teaching high school English and Creative Writing for 4 years in the Boston area. EdTech Leaders Online, a division of Education Development Center (EDC), is a capacity building online professional development program for school districts, state departments of education, regional education service providers and teacher training institutions. Laura’s work includes curriculum development and updates for ETLO’s catalog of workshops and facilitating ETLO’s Online Professional Development course.
